TrueNet® Power over Ethernet Solutions
VoIP phones, WiFi access points, IP cameras, IP security and building control devices all have a requirement for a source of power in addition to their Ethernet network connection. Historically this has led to a requirement for an adjacent mains outlet for each such device. It also frequently dictates that devices which may be essential in times of emergency are actually reliant on interruptible local power.
Using TrueNet PoE (Power over Ethernet) solutions, power is actually distributed to the devices through the same structured cabling as the data signal. Thus, it is possible to reduce costs and increase flexibility by not requiring a mains socket per device. It also means that the centralised power fed out through the structured cabling can be sourced through UPS ensuring that essential devices like VoIP phones and security cameras continue to work when local power has failed. TrueNet PoE midspan controllers can be located in the communications room or distributor/communications closet and offer a highly cost-effective solution as power is thus only supplied on those circuits which need it. The units’ intelligent sensing auto detects whether the device connected requires power or not.
